What to Expect at Your First Chiropractic Visit With Dr. Bain

Never been to a chiropractor, or new to our office? Here is a plain walk-through of what happens at a first visit, from the conversation to the structural exam.

What to Expect at Your First Chiropractic Visit With Dr. Bain

Starting Is the Hardest Part

Many people tell me they waited months, sometimes years, before booking their first chiropractic visit. Not knowing what would happen was part of the hesitation. So here is exactly how a first visit works in my office, so there are no surprises.

It Starts With a Conversation

Before anything physical happens, we sit down and talk. I want to hear what brought you in, how long it has been going on, what you have already tried, and how it affects your day. I also ask about past injuries, car accidents, falls, and sports, because structure often carries a history that explains the present.

This is not a rushed intake form. The more clearly I understand your story, the better I can decide what to look at next.

A Structural Examination

Next comes the exam. I look at how you stand, how you move, and how your body is carrying itself. Posture, balance, range of motion, and areas of tension all give me information. Depending on your situation, I may recommend imaging so I can see your structure instead of guessing at it.

My approach is built on Advanced Biostructural Correction, which looks at the structure of the spine and how it relates to your overall function. If you want the background, I explained it in what advanced biostructural correction is. The exam is how we find out whether that approach fits you.

We Talk Through What We Found

After the exam, I explain what I am seeing in plain language. You will not get a pile of jargon or a pressure-filled pitch. I show you what I found, explain what it may mean for the way you feel, and answer your questions.

If I think chiropractic care is a good fit, I will outline a recommended plan, including how often I suggest visits and for roughly how long. If I think you would be better served by another kind of provider, I will tell you that too. I would rather send you in the right direction than keep you in the wrong chair.

Other Options We May Discuss

Depending on what you tell me, there may be other tools worth talking about. Some patients are interested in nutrition response testing to look at how diet and nutrition fit into the picture. Others ask about cold laser therapy for tender or irritated areas, or about the emotional side of how they carry stress. We cover these only if they are relevant to you, and we never add anything you do not want.

What You Might Feel Afterward

Everyone is different. Some people feel looser or lighter after a visit. Others notice mild soreness for a day, a bit like after a new workout, as the body adapts. If something feels off, tell us. We would much rather hear from you than have you wonder.

How to Prepare

A few simple things help:

  • Wear comfortable clothing you can move in.
  • Bring a list of your medications and any health concerns you want to mention.
  • Bring prior imaging or records if you have them.
  • Write down your questions so you do not forget them in the moment.

No Guarantees, Just Honest Care

I cannot promise a particular outcome, and no responsible provider can. What I can promise is a careful look at your structure, a clear explanation, and a plan that respects your time and your goals.
